Hi, I’m Lady.
Lady
I kind of run things around here.
Would you like to meet my family?

Pasted Graphic
Like I said, I'm Lady. I’m mostly in charge around here. Anyway, I scratched out some family portraits (I can't use a camera because, well...no thumbs) so that you could meet my family and see our bookstore. I work just about every day that my Mommy works. I greet customers (and herd them into the store in the summer), keep the sofa warm and hairy, eat nummies that nice people bring me, visit the surf shop, and never bite. Lick - yes, bite - NO!

So, meet my family.

page30_6
This is Mom (Cynthia). She reads ALL THE TIME. If she's not reading she's carrying her book under her arm while helping people or shelving. She is almost ALWAYS in the store and you may not make it out alive unless you buy one of her suggested books. She's an enormous word nerd. But I love her because she brings me to work, which is the best place ever, ever.

page30_7
This is Dad (Charlie). He helps out a lot! He doesn't read as much as all the girls, except maybe the scrolly thing at the bottom of SportsCenter. He had his own book club for a while, but it kind of fizzled. We are just glad that he almost never drops the F-bomb when he can't find a book when Mom has the day off.

page30_8
This is Christina, the oldest of Charlie and Cynthia's daughters. She is also a mega-word nerd. She lives in New Jersey and teaches - SURPRISE - reading, but if you're in the store,
chances are she'll call - two or three times - just to say "Hi".
I don't know how we get along without her. Oh, the phone is ringing. It must be Christina! Or Laura.

page30_9
This Laura, the middle sister, or as we like to call her,
Jan Brady.
She attends Portland State University and in her spare time
knows EVERYTHING about young adult books and, also a word nerd.
She also doesn’t come home often enough. Just saying.

page30_10
This is Kelsey, the baby of the family. She’s a Freshman in High School now and she works in the store after school quite often. She can sell books her MOM has read because she actually pays attention when Mommy rattles on about her book of the day. So...word nerd. They're a tremendous thundering word nerd herd.
Jealous? Yeah. Thought so.

Now for the serious “About Us” stuff
